Opening Prayer

Bounteous God, You are like a Mother Who gives us too much to eat. You are awesome in Your generosity. Jesus, Your Bread of Life, is both challenging and nurturing. It is exciting and dangerous to sit at his table and eat the food he gives us. Your will is both uplifting and frightening. Your power within us heals and transforms, as well as attracts contempt and condemnation. We need courage and hope, Lord Jesus. We return to your table because we are helpless and hungry without you. Inspire us to eat of the challenging and transforming bread you give us this day.
