Opening Prayer
Holy God, Abba, our Dad, our endless words must bore you! Sometimes we are afraid to sit still with you and just listen. We fear silence and emptiness. Your presence can be terrifying. In nervous anxiety, we babble in abundance. Quiet our spirit with trust so that we can pray as Jesus taught us. Teach us to take seriously what we pray, because You do listen to us carefully. Treat us the way we treat each other, as frightening as this sounds. Instill us with the passion of Elijah and Elisha, calling us back to You.
