Opening Prayer
Lord Jesus, Rabbi, Teacher and Brother, Luke tells us your story. He stresses your miraculous outreach and sensitivity to people receiving God’s grace. As an apostle, he spread your good news to the ends of the world. He was sent, as you sent your disciples – as you send us today. You ask us to travel light, bringing little physical or emotional baggage which would limit the reception of your message. Lighten us, Lord, sometimes we travel with such heavy baggage. You ask us to be careful and discerning, aware that wolves do dress like sheep, even in your Church. You empower us to bring peace – your peace – to all we meet. Jesus, continue to pour forth your Spirit on us today that we might spread the good news of God’s unconditional and saving love and open people to your reign being so close and at hand. Transform us, Lord Jesus! Create your reign in the hearts of your people throughout the world! And be especially present to missionaries who share your good news in foreign lands.
