Opening Prayer

You are faithful, ancient God, ever-young. Joyful gladness sings in our hearts as we celebrate your wonderful ways! The young and the old meet with an explosive sense of promise. In Mary, Your youthful initiative comes running to stir our tired, sterile experience. You always take the initiative. Despite how hardened, disillusioned, aged and abandoned we might feel, you stir new life within us and we become pregnant with promise. The Elizabeth in us leaps as the divine presence stirs us deeply. May your presence continue to stir us joyfully to work for the birth of Your reign. May we soar with gratitude, like Mary, celebrating Your greatness. Teach us to reverence the pregnant possibilities of our life experience and to respond to the divine instincts as You visit us. InSpirit the old and young in us to embrace and glorify You.
