Opening Prayer

You love people who respond to You in the simplicity of trust, God of faithfulness. You warned Your children Israel not to lose faith, even amid disaster, darkness and defeat. Jesus was hurt and angry that neighboring people lost faith when they did not continue to get what they wanted. Give us the Spirit of Trust, Faithful One, to believe in You, even when You seem absent and our needs and dreams are not being met. Teach us to surrender to Your larger plans and mysterious dreams. Give us innocent trust in the frontiers of our lives.

Today is also the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.  As “Our Lady of the Place”, may she inspire us to see Your divine presence in every place where we are.  Our Lady of Mount Carmel, draw us closer to Emmanuel!
