Opening Prayer

God of the Covenant, it is so good to be Yours. Thank You for believing in and loving us enough to come after us and write Your Law of Love on our hearts. Your truth is within and we do understand, even if we are not faithful. Teach us Your Wisdom through the obedience of suffering. Following Jesus, gentle us not to turn away from suffering. We so anesthetize our pain that we are not refined by it. InSpirit us to learn self-emptying that we might be more like Jesus. We are sorry that we want to grow and blossom without the seed planting, dying, opening and patient effort life takes. We apologize for trying to short-circuit your saving process. Lift us up, as You lift up Your Son. Glorify us as You glorify Him. Thank you for being faithful to Your covenant. Teach us wholehearted fidelity today. Bless the Irish today, as they celebrate St. Patrick. Bless Ireland with peace in their historic hurts.
