Opening Prayer

You look too close! It is not fair, Lord! You look right through me and invade the privacy of my heart. You know my dark intentions and empty heart. Save me from myself and convert me from the inside out. As you came forth from the tomb, grab my hand and lift me from the entombing selfishness I create and imprison others with. May Your Spirit plunge from the heavens into my depths, crucifying my self-destructive attitudes and behaviors, so that love, joy, peace, patient endurance, kindness, generosity, faith, mildness and chastity might by my way of life. See me and create me again as You know me to be in Your heart! Like Teresa of Avila, I thirst for You–help me to suck wholeheartedly from the breasts of Your mercy, that You might quench my thirst–the unquenchable desire of my heart for You!
