Opening Prayer

You breathe into clay, and we are! Awesome! Your Spirit and Breath give us life, Holy, Creating God. When I sit still, I can feel the warmth of Your Breath in the fiber of my being. Your generosity is so gracious. You place us in such a beautiful garden, with little limits. Yet, I know it is a test – I’ll want what I am denied, despite the verdant splendor around me. Why is the elusive so attractive, Mysterious God? Even as we are tempted to taste what is not ours, help us discern what Jesus taught! Teach us not to blame outside forces or others, but rather to assume responsibility for the evil we create. Some emptiness lurks within and reaches out to consume. Let Your Breath fill us, God of Life, so that we do not die from what we recklessly consume.
