Opening Prayer

Holy and Awesome God, sometimes we need glorious and terrifying displays of Your majesty. We look for You in transcending experiences that excite and frighten our soul. We know that we cannot see Your Face, but we long to experience Your glory. As fearful as those moments are, we need the comfort of Your presence, especially in times of trial, confusion and suffering. Thank you for revealing in Jesus that glory will come after suffering. We do get confused about our debts to Church and State. We worry about programs our taxes support that are not pro-life and not of Your Kingdom. We want to be responsible in the sacred and secular worlds You have placed us. Empower us to fish deeply to seek Your wisdom and Your glory.
