Opening Prayer

Jesus, you are our anchor! You are our hope! You have crashed through the veil which separated us from you. In you, we are made holy, and are embraced by God’s faithfulness. Teach us to be comfortable and flexible as we maneuver with you around the sanctuary of our lives. Save us from rigid obedience which shrinks religion and hardens hearts. People of rigid righteousness reduce your law of love to simplistic strict obedience. Jesus, keep us flexible in our listening and behaviors so that we respond to the legitimate needs of your people. As Lord of the Sabbath, be Lord of our hearts. Be leaven so that we never confine, stifle or shrink your presence and reign.
