Opening Prayer
Jesus, friend and brother, we do not always walk with you nor let you walk with us with your transforming power. Today, please continue to let your discerning wisdom refine and inspire us. Shine with your glory within us. We create so much evil, division, tension, anxiety and misunderstanding by embracing and living truths that are not of you and not genuine to the way God created us. My dark emptiness consumes and defines me, causing violence as I try to fill myself with emptiness. There is a war raging inside me – and within our world and Church. Bring peace, gentle Jesus! Bring childlike wisdom! Enliven and embrace the inner child within us who still trusts and knows you, rather than the hardened, power-seeking adult who lurks in silence and works with violence. Gentle me to surrender into your arms, as you surrendered yourself into God’s arms on the cross. Let pain not breed fear and violence within me.
