Opening Prayer
Jesus, I do get nervous about you leaving. Your comforting and freeing presence is so important. I become afraid, but I do want to trust you when you proclaim that the Spirit will only come when you go to God. Help me to step over my fear and self preoccupied desire to hang on to you and what is comfortable. Empower me to see your going to God as an act of trust in me and your people to create your reign through the powerful presence of your Spirit. Just as God’s Spirit freed you from the tomb and Paul from the jail, free me from all that imprisons and limits me and the ability of Your Spirit to work through me. Free me, Lord Jesus and open me to Your Spirit!
Lord Jesus, today we also celebrate the anniversary of St. Therese’s First Communion. Remembering how excited she was about this first personal and intimate contact with you, help us always to be as excited about you and as loving of you as she was and is. Teach us again to appreciate the depth of your love for us and the intimacy of your presence in the Blessed Sacrament and every moment of our day.
