Opening Prayer

Jesus, you are the light of the world. You manifest the powerful presence of God, embracing all of us as your sisters and brothers. The whole creation yearns and groans and searches, knowing that You are at the core of all life. Wise Ones follow stars. Your light shines, brightening and making holy all humanity, Jew and Gentile. Your light causes a search and ignites a journey. Help us to see the spark of you within our soul and beyond our reach. InSpirit us to follow stars and never be afraid of the darkness, especially as it is experienced in the paranoia and blinding fear of others. The Wise Ones brought you gifts of royalty, death and holiness. As we search for you on the rhythmic camels of our life experience, please gift us with the golden dignity as your sisters and brothers, with the myrrh, symbolizing death to whatever blinds us to your sparkling stars and limits our journeys and with frankincense that acknowledges your holy presence within and among us.
