Opening Prayer

God of Passover, You continually call your people from bondage to freedom, from attachment to physical temples to personal intimacy with You. Help us keep Your commandments as they call us closer to You, our jealous Lover. Empower us to live the spirit of justice spelled out in Your commandments about our relationships with each other. Humble us to serve You, not just Your law out of fear or self-serving obedience. Jesus purged the Jerusalem Temple so that all people could pass over into your presence, not just the rich and righteous. Continue to purify us today as the Temple of Your Body. Knock over our greed and dividing judgments – our carefully crafted boundaries, so that all people may feel invited to the Passover of Your embrace and the justice of Your Kingdom. We need so much disruption to walk from the bondage we create within ourselves and others. Free us, God of Passover! Free us, Jesus, power and wisdom of God!
