Opening Prayer
O Desire of All Peoples, we long for you to come and embrace the deepest part of us. Make us whole and fill our hearts – fulfill dreams beyond desire! With the muted and watchful silence of Zechariah, we are standing on the edge of dawn – awaiting for the first streaks of sunrise to appear – the sign of your favor – streaks of fire, like Elijah’s chariot – a glimpse golden with promise. Awesomely you ascend to the sky and into the temple of our hearts. Your dawn will change our hearts and dispel doom, darkness, and despair. The light of Your embracing favor will reconnect all who are alienated. John announces. You come! Help us embrace the life-giving ways you come into our lives, even when they are confusing and challenging, and not the traditional ways we would name you. You are Desire of my heart – I long for you in ways beyond words.
