Opening Prayer

Lord of Truth and Emerging Light, You never let us get away with duplicity. You come with truth, sincerity, and integrity, to purify us. Sometimes, Your coming seems terrifying. You are shaking things up. You are shaking me up. You hate hypocrisy in us. Jesus railed against words of faith not enfleshed in deeds. Sometimes I fool myself that my words to You will cover my lack of conversion and insincere efforts to create Your kingdom. Come, Lord Jesus, touch our hearts, purify our motives and modify our behaviors so that our words, intentions, motives, and actions may have the integrity of life which creates a dwelling place for you. We need the power of Your Spirit to lift us up beyond our selfishness, duplicity, and laziness. Thank you for continuing to believe in the remnant of goodness within us – within me! Come, Lord Jesus – to the extent I am able, my arms are wide open to welcome You!
