Opening Prayer
I love to bargain with you, God. You really do have a soft heart, even though some suspect that You are uptight and unbending. Your interactional love can be plied in faith. You will go to any length to save and love Your people. Soften us not to dig into the rigidity of righteousness which destroys, demeans and distances others. Give us the bargaining intimacy and faith of Abraham. Calm us with a poverty of spirit which relies on you, instead of on our successes, hard work – the power, prosperity and privilege we cling to and create our identity of. Help us trust you, Son of Man! Save us all, because Jesus is Your Son and our brother.
