Opening Prayer

You are as confusing as You are challenging, God of the Covenant. You invite us to change the world, and yet to be respectful of the social order we are born into. How do we preserve the balance? We need Your help to respect and reverence the people and situations of our life. InSpirit us again to believe that we are all Your children, no matter how powerful or high or humble we may be. Give us Your eyes to see ourselves as You see us! Teach us to walk again through Your narrow gate of respect, humility and reverence rather than through the wide gaps we create by our use of power and selfishness. Make our faith take flesh in the way we live our lives and treat each other. Save us from righteousness that thinks because we call out to You and even attend Church that we are saved. We need to help, Lord of love, to live what we believe and follow what You taught us. Help us today!
