Opening Prayer

Inclusive and embracing God of Love, you must squint in disbelief at our pettiness. Our righteousness blinds and binds. Give us the courageous faith of your apostles who looked to their past to understand how You are acting today, and interpret the future. May our past, heritage and memory never imprison us or others. Give us your Spirit to be open to the gentiles and “others” of our life and the outsiders of our world. Empower us to speak Your uplifting Word of freedom, dignity and justice to everyone. Teach us again to believe in the inclusive and embracing nature of Your saving action. Help us not to exclude anyone. Live in us, Risen Lord. Your power and presence are our only strength! As You passover to God, fill us and all people with divine joy and deep completion.
