Opening Prayer
Lord God, in the heartfelt revelation “I am your brother, Joseph”, we hear Your fraternal embrace. Hidden behind veils, You are God Who forgives and loves. In strange and wonderful ways You reunited families and reconcile ancient hearts. Bid us come closer to You – and to each other! Teach us to travel light, without the physical, emotional, psychic and religious baggage which weighs us down. Like your disciples, teach and calm us to be at peace with where we are, and dependent on what is provided.
St. Therese, we are aware that in 1858, your parents, Zelie Guerin and Louis Martin, were married this day. They had both pursued other vocations as a Nun and Priest, but God called them together into the holy vocation of marriage and they produced a holy and wonderful family. Help us to reverence marriage as a reflection and sacrament of God’s covenant and faithfulness to us. As parents, help us instill a great spirituality of the holiness of all life into our children.
