Thursday of the Twenty-fifth Week in Ordinary Time

First Scripture Reading
Hg 1:1-8
Gospel Reading
Luke 9: 7-9

Opening Prayer

Boundless Energy, Creative God, Your prophets speak.  You challenge us about spending so much of our energy and resources filling our needs, which only increases our emptiness and frustration.  Focus our energy to follow Jesus and build Your Temple.  Teach us trust that You can and will fill us beyond our wildest dreams and needs.  As Jesus confounded people like Herod, transform us so that we confound our world to raise questions about the use and focus of energy and resources.  May the priorities of our energy make other people curious about what moves and empowers us.  As You are glorified by every human person becoming more fully alive, help us respect, honor, and worship Your glory by the way we serve, respect and work for the dignity and full life of each and all of Your people.
