Opening Prayer

You are our help and strength, strong and tender God. Despite this disgrace, darkness and disillusionment we experience, You are hope and light! You carry me when I have no other resources or wells to drink from. InSpirit us again today, so that we do not try to separate faith in You from the way we treat each other. Faith and works are interconnected, despite our attempts to be pious and close to You, even as we ignore the needs of others and the justice of Your Kingdom. Teach us again the integrity of Your message. Give us the faith of Peter, who believes in You, despite disappointed expectations. We want to follow You, Lord Jesus, even to the cross, but we are scared and weak. InSpirit us with faith to follow amid the frightening and confusing times of our life journey. Be our uplifting strength and our guiding light!
