Opening Prayer

God of promise, sometimes I live in the darkness of doubt. Give me the faith of Abraham. With Your grace, increase my ability and willingness to believe more in You, in myself, and in others. Stretch my heart. As You raised Jesus to life, pull me from all darkness, doubt, self-destruction and selfishness which confines me. Faith in You saves and expands. Teach me not to use the petty measurement of human possessions and success to measure myself. Increase Your Spirit within me that I might put my energies into the values of Your reign and live by your Gospel law. In desperate darkness, I try to fill myself with so many things, but they only heighten my emptiness. Enrich me with the wealth of Your wisdom and the trust of Your promise. Give me faith which humbles and empowers. Teach me to risk trusting that You will fulfill the promises you have placed in my heart.
