Opening Prayer

Holy One of God, where did the summer go? All the kids are going back to school – bless them and their teachers! Give each and all of us the attentiveness and wisdom to constantly look for your presence breaking out in our world. Even though we experience the birthing labor pains of Your Kingdom, never let us be imprisoned in a womb of darkness or despair. Give continued birth to us as Your children of light. Exorcise all darkness within and around us – darkness which confines and blinds. Free us as individual persons and as Your people that we might be the salt and light of Your glorious Reign breaking out in the new and eternal dawn.
