Opening Prayer

Jesus, sometimes I arrogantly think that I chose You and You should be grateful. But like Paul, I must embrace the truth: that You chose me. Despite my sinfulness, selfishness and shortcomings, You chose me and still choose me. I’m humbled and grateful! You know my weakness. Continue to purify me and be my strength. Give me the humility not to judge others. Correct the cataracts which blur my vision and distort others. Give me the flexibility, sacrifice and discipline I need today for You to work in and through me. Let my only active compulsion be as a voice speaking Your Word, Your truth, Your love and Your justice. Keep me faithful to the race when I’m sweaty, tired, disillusioned and have even lost sight of the finish line. Like Your Spirit, be my strength. Only in You is victory!
